EXPLORE NORTHERN IRON COUNTY SCAVENGER HUNT

NICER SCAVENGER HUNT ENCOURAGES PEOPLE TO EXPLORE IRON COUNTY

Iron County Heritage Week

July 27 - August 11, 2019

NICER members decided to plan a fun summer event that would get community members and their families outside to explore areas of Iron County during Hertiage week, which took place July 27-August 11.

With the support of the Hurley Chamber of Commerce, Iron County Health Department and Whitecap Mountain Resort, NICER planned the EXPLORE NORTHERN IRON COUNTY SCAVENGER HUNT.

Participants were invited to pick up clue cards from the Hurley Chamber, Health Department or Sharon's Coffee Company. These cards included clues referring to 11 locations in the Northern part of Iron County. At each site, a card letting participants know that they were in the right spot, shared extra facts about the site and listed a hashtag that they could share on social media.

Participants were asked to email a photo or a selfie to the Hurley Chamber of Commerce office to submit their entries. This fun, free, family friendly activity was designed to promote wellness and show off some of the lesser-known tourist sites in the region.

11 people or groups submitted photos with 4 of those completing all 11 stops. 3 prize packages were given out, through the generous donations received from local businesses and organizers.

We hope to see this event continue in the future. What a great way to get out and enjoy our beautiful county!
